Drone surveys in Scarborough: roof surveys and inspections on the Yorkshire coast
Drone roof surveys, building inspections, thermal surveys and measured surveys across Scarborough, Filey, Whitby and the Yorkshire coast.
Seafront hotels, Victorian terraces on the cliffs and historic buildings take a beating from North Sea weather. A drone records the whole roof in one visit, with no scaffolding.
Drone surveys across Scarborough and the coast
The town, both bays and the coast from Filey to Whitby.
Scarborough is the biggest resort on the Yorkshire coast, with grand Victorian hotels and terraces on the cliffs above both bays, the Spa, the castle headland and the old town around the harbour. Salt, wind and rain off the North Sea are hard on slate roofs, gutters and chimneys.
We survey for hotel owners, landlords, housing associations, the council and homeowners along the coast, from Filey to Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby.

Scarborough has no major airport nearby, but there are other things to plan around. These are the checks we make for every Scarborough address.
Radar stations
High-intensity radio transmission areas around the radar stations at Fylingdales, on the North York Moors, and Staxton Wold, south of the town, can affect drone signals. We plan flights nearby with this in mind.
Parachuting near Bridlington
Skydiving near Bridlington, to the south, makes that airspace higher risk. We plan any work nearby carefully.
Seafront and visitors
Both bays get very busy in summer. We plan flight positions and timings to keep clear of the public.
Rail lines
Lines run from Scarborough to York and along the coast to Filey and Hull. Network Rail has its own rules for drones near its property, on top of CAA rules.
Coastal weather
North Sea wind and cliff-top sites can be exposed. We plan around the forecast and rebook if conditions aren’t safe.

Restricted doesn’t mean impossible
Restricted zones need more planning and the right permissions. They don’t stop a survey going ahead. Our pilots and office team work together to get approval for even the trickiest Scarborough sites.
- Airspace checked for every address before we quote
- Permissions requested on your behalf
- Risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) for every job
- Weather planned in, including thermal survey conditions

Mapping and surveyor support
As well as imagery and reports, we produce maps, 3D models, point clouds and internal and external scans, so surveyors can measure and report on Scarborough assets with fewer site visits.

Scarborough drone survey FAQs
Can’t find your answer? Call us on 0345 017 5592 or see all FAQs.
Do you cover the whole Yorkshire coast?
Yes. As well as Scarborough, we survey Filey, Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby and the villages along the coast and inland. Send us the address and we’ll confirm.
Can you survey a hotel without disturbing guests?
Yes. No scaffolding or access equipment is needed and the flight is usually short. We agree timings with you in advance and can work around your bookings.
Can you survey cliff-top buildings?
Yes. Cliff-top and seafront buildings are hard to scaffold, but easy to capture by drone from a safe spot nearby. We plan around the wind and the public.
How quickly can you get to a site in Scarborough?
Scarborough is about 140 miles from our Liverpool head office, so we plan visits in advance and often group them together. We’ll give you a date when we send your quote.
How much does a drone roof survey in Scarborough cost?
Our drone roof inspections start from £250 + VAT for domestic properties and £350 + VAT for commercial properties, the same as anywhere else we cover. Larger sites and portfolios are quoted individually. See our drone survey prices.
Do I need to be on site for the survey?
Not usually. For most surveys we only need permission to access the area we fly from. If you’d like to see the inspection, we can live-stream it so you can watch remotely and direct the pilot.
