Drone surveys in Blackpool: roof surveys and inspections on the Fylde coast
Drone roof surveys, inspections and thermal surveys for hotels, guest houses, care homes, leisure buildings and housing across Blackpool and the Fylde coast.
Seafront property here takes a harder beating than almost anywhere in the North West. A drone records the whole roof, including the parapets and valleys you can’t see from the promenade, in one visit, with no scaffolding and no rooms out of service.
Drone surveys across Blackpool and the Fylde
From the promenade to the towns of the Fylde coast and Wyre.
Blackpool’s seafront hotels are mostly rendered elevations with slate or concrete-tile pitched roofs behind parapets. The junction between the two is where we find most water ingress. Behind the front, large flat-roofed leisure and retail buildings bring different problems: ponding, failed felt laps and blocked outlets. Salt corrosion of fixings, flashings and rooflight frames shows up across both.
The Fylde coast also has one of the highest concentrations of care homes in the country, many in converted hotels with the same parapets, valley gutters and flat-roof extensions. A drone survey is quiet, quick and needs no access inside, so residents aren’t disturbed.

Blackpool’s airspace is simpler than a big city’s, but the seafront brings its own challenges. These are the checks we make for every Blackpool address.
Blackpool Airport
Blackpool Airport, south of the town, has a Flight Restriction Zone. Flights inside it need permission from the airport, which must be requested in advance. We apply on your behalf.
Warton Aerodrome
The aerodrome at Warton, east of Lytham, has its own restricted airspace. Sites in Lytham, Warton and Freckleton are checked against it.
The promenade and the Illuminations
On the seafront the question is usually crowds rather than airspace, especially during the Illuminations season. We plan flight positions and timings to keep clear of the public.
The Tower and piers
Blackpool Tower and the piers need extra planning when working on the central seafront.
Coastal weather
Strong onshore winds are common on the Fylde coast. We plan surveys around the forecast and rebook if conditions aren’t safe.

Restricted doesn’t mean impossible
Restricted zones need more planning and the right permissions. They don’t stop a survey going ahead. Our pilots and office team work together to get approval for even the trickiest Blackpool sites.
- Airspace checked for every address before we quote
- Permissions requested on your behalf
- Risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) for every job
- Weather planned in, including thermal survey conditions

Watch the inspection live
We can live-stream the flight so you and your team can see the inspection as it happens, talk to the pilot and ask for a closer look at specific areas, without travelling to site.
Mapping and surveyor support
As well as imagery and reports, we produce maps, 3D models, point clouds and internal and external scans, so surveyors can measure and report on Blackpool assets with fewer site visits.
Other areas near Blackpool
We also have local pages for these nearby towns and cities. Distances are approximate, by road from Blackpool.
Do you cover the whole Fylde coast?
Yes. As well as Blackpool, we survey Lytham St Annes, Fleetwood, Thornton-Cleveleys, Poulton-le-Fylde, Kirkham and the rest of the Fylde and Wyre. Send us the address and we’ll confirm.
Do you survey hotels while they are occupied?
Yes. No scaffolding or access equipment is needed, so guests aren’t disturbed and no rooms need to be taken out of service. We agree timings with you in advance and can work early in the day.
Can you identify salt damage to fixings?
High-resolution imagery clearly shows corroded fixings, failing flashings and degraded rooflight frames. A thermal survey can be added where water is getting in but the entry point can’t be seen.
Can you survey several seafront properties in one visit?
Yes. For portfolios we plan a route and survey neighbouring buildings in a single visit, which is much cheaper than booking each one separately.
How much does a drone roof survey in Blackpool cost?
Our drone roof inspections start from £250 + VAT for domestic properties and £350 + VAT for commercial properties, the same as anywhere else we cover. Larger sites and portfolios are quoted individually. See our drone survey prices.
Do I need to be on site for the survey?
Not usually. For most surveys we only need permission to access the area we fly from. If you’d like to see the inspection, we can live-stream it so you can watch remotely and direct the pilot.
