Telecoms Mast Inspections
We carry out cell tower and phone mast inspections across the UK. Monopole or lattice tower, pole or surface-mounted antenna, stub mast or flagpole, 4G or 5G: whatever you call your mast, we inspect it.
Depending on your requirements, we provide UHD 4K imagery, 3D models, geo-referencing and specialist photogrammetry analysis. From the imagery we collect, you can take height measurements, antenna azimuth, downtilt and plumb.
That means fewer engineer visits, better-planned maintenance and less network downtime, in city centres and rural locations alike.

What a Mast Inspection Can Show
Drone imagery gives engineers a close look at every part of the structure before anyone climbs. It can show:
With a clear picture before anyone goes up, you can prioritise engineer workflow, reduce downtime and send the right team with the right kit first time.
Digital twins
Digital twin cell towers
Using photogrammetry, we can deliver raw imagery or turn our pictures into accurate 3D models of your masts. A digital twin gives you a snapshot in time of the physical structure that engineers and planners can measure and review from their desks.
Add ground control points and the model can be geo-referenced for survey-grade positional accuracy.
Measure, plan and review your masts without leaving the office.

Why drones
Why use a drone for mast inspections?
Climbing a mast is slow, expensive and carries risk. A drone gets close to every antenna and fixing in a fraction of the time, without anyone leaving the ground.
- No one climbing. Structures are inspected without climbers or access equipment.
- Any location. City centre rooftops or remote rural sites.
- Measurable data. Height, azimuth, downtilt and plumb from the imagery.
- Fewer site visits. Engineers go up only when work is needed.
- Multi-site ready. Built to deliver large numbers of sites in short timeframes.
Every antenna and fixing recorded close-up, with no one climbing.
Sectors We Cover

Why choose us
Why choose Drone Site Surveys?
Drone Site Surveys specialises in professional drone survey and inspection data capture rather than general aerial photography.
Our experienced pilots understand the technical requirements of telecommunications infrastructure inspections, capturing detailed, high-resolution imagery of cell towers, masts, antennas, mounting brackets, fixings and associated equipment. Using consistent capture methods, we provide clear, structured visual data that enables engineers and asset managers to assess structural condition, identify potential defects, review equipment installations and make informed maintenance and asset management decisions, without the need for working at height.
Clients choose Drone Site Surveys for our specialist experience, professional standards and independent approach:
We do not undertake mast repairs, equipment installation or remedial works. Our role is to provide accurate, impartial inspection data that gives telecommunications operators, engineers and asset managers a clear understanding of their infrastructure’s condition. This independent approach supports informed maintenance planning, defect assessment and asset management decisions, without any commercial incentive to recommend unnecessary repairs or additional works.
How it works
Our mast inspection process
From first enquiry to secure delivery, every survey follows the same six steps, so you always know what happens next and when.
Share your portfolio
Simply email us your site list with postcodes, structure types and inspection requirements. Whether your portfolio includes monopoles, lattice towers, guyed masts, rooftop telecommunications installations or street-level telecoms infrastructure, we can tailor our approach to suit each site. We’ll review your requirements and provide a clear proposal outlining the available inspection methods, deliverable options and pricing.
Planning and quote
We carry out a desktop assessment of the sites and the surrounding airspace, check the survey against current UK drone regulations, and prepare your quote. You receive it by email with no obligation, along with the airspace map for your site and an example delivery so you can see exactly what you’ll be getting.
Booking your date
Once you’re happy with the quote we add your job to the schedule and start monitoring the Met Office forecast. In the meantime we prepare the pre-flight paperwork, including our risk assessment and method statement (RAMS), which we can send over for your records. As soon as we have a clear weather window and pilot availability, we confirm your attendance date. You don’t normally need to be on site.
The survey
Our CAA approved pilot captures the structure in UHD 4K, with photogrammetry capture for 3D models where specified.
Processing
Every image is checked and processed. Any modelling or reporting you’ve asked for is completed at this stage.
Delivery
We email you a link to our secure online portal, where your imagery, models and any other agreed outputs are ready to view, download and share with your team or contractors. Alongside the deliverables you’ll find a folder containing the pre-flight paperwork, a copy of the drone airspace map for your site and any other relevant documents, so everything from the survey is in one place.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Answers to the questions we are asked most often about cell tower and mast inspections. If yours is not covered here, give us a call.
What types of mast can you inspect?
All types, including monopole and lattice towers, pole and surface-mounted antennas, stub masts, flagpole masts, and 4G and 5G sites.
Can you measure antenna azimuth and downtilt?
Yes. Height, azimuth, downtilt and plumb can all be taken from our imagery and 3D models.
How much does a mast inspection cost?
Our competitive multisite inspection rates can start from as little as £349.00 + VAT per mast, offering significant cost savings for telecommunications operators and asset managers with multiple sites.
Pricing is tailored to the size and geographical distribution of your portfolio, the type and complexity of the structures, and your required inspection deliverables. By strategically grouping sites and maximising the number of inspections completed by each pilot per day, we can achieve substantial efficiencies and pass those savings directly on to our clients.
Whether you require high-resolution visual inspections, detailed condition imagery or 3D photogrammetry models, we can develop a cost-effective inspection programme to suit your operational requirements and budget.
What is a digital twin for a telecoms mast?
An accurate 3D model of your mast created from our imagery using photogrammetry. Engineers can measure and review it from their desks, and it can be geo-referenced using ground control points.
Can you inspect masts in city centres?
Yes. We inspect rooftop and street-level sites in city centres as well as rural masts, planning each flight around the airspace and site.
What do you deliver?
Close-up imagery of every antenna, mount, cable run and the structure itself, with measurements and an optional 3D model, delivered through a password-protected online portal.
Can you handle multi-site programmes?
Yes. We’re set up to deliver large numbers of sites in short timeframes, with all data delivered through a password-protected, non-indexed online portal.
Do you need site access?
We’ll agree access arrangements with you beforehand. Often we only need a safe take-off area near the site, but some locations need permission from the landlord or site owner.
Can you survey a mast before an upgrade?
Yes. Our imagery and measurements record the existing equipment, mounts and available space, so engineers can plan an upgrade without a climb.
